‘Even You’ a fresh release from Passed Curfew, is the perfect mixture of funky pops and chill vibes. The duo, consisting of Landen Hale-Brown and Cameron Morris, created a song that takes me back to early Flume and Nick Murphy (Chet Faker) collaborations. The textured layering throughout this tune creates a complex sounding direction while keeping it simple enough to still feel each individual layer coming through. The vocals are deep and mellow, juxtaposed to the more upbeat funk, then offering an almost soulful chorus that’s just enough to really focus your attention. This is again very reminiscent of a Nick Murphy style of vocals which I think gives huge props to the quality Landen Hale-Brown’s voice. My favourite part was the killer sharpness of the guitar (almost solo) against the funky beats giving off a short lived but perfectly executed psychedelic trip, taking ‘Even You’ to a whole new level!
Considering I have had this on repeat since I first heard it the other day, I think it's safe to say that this is by far my favourite new track of the week.
