FEELDS - Colourblind Single Launch

Rising into Melbourne's music scene, FEELDS, is the folk infused pop project led by musician James Seymour (who you might recognize from bands such as Swim Season and Slowcoaching) you've all been waiting for. Since I first heard about FEELDS I’ve been digging his sound and really vibing on the raw, earthy, natural feelings produced. His songs and warming melodies have that ability to take you back to memories of sitting around a campfire or winter road trips along the beach. A few days ago, I had the pleasure of going to see James live at The Workers Club for his 'Colourblind' Single Launch and was not disappointed.

EP single, 'Colourblind' made itself known and was without a doubt the star of the show, such power and feeling was drawn from the stage during this performance. The drums in this piece were so forceful and really created a strong foundation for the song, while also complimenting James' raw and husky voice in a way that balanced really well. There was something about this song, in that while it projected a sense of power also had this feeling of calmness, it was this contrast that had me glued to the stage for the entirety of the performance. I think it was the combination of the mellow build up in the tune with the sudden hit of the gritty guitar rift in the chorus I found quite profound, and that to me is what locks the short chorus into your head as well as adding strength to the lyrics. I loved this song on Spotify but seeing it live has made me appreciate it so much more, absolutely incredible!!

Before the night was over FEELDS also performed a cover of Sweater Weather, it was received with welcome arms by everyone in the room. This fun little addition blended really well with the rest of the set and he definitely did ‘The Neighbourhood’ proud with this little number that’s for sure.

FEELDS, who is now getting ready for a Canadian tour in July, has an EP release to follow sometime in the middle of the year. I can’t wait to see what other projects FEELDS has in store for the future, but this is definitely a guy to keep your eyes on!
